Prey Model 101

Prey model raw diet strives to come as close as possible to the diet of wild canine without requiring our dogs to go out into the world and hunt wild prey animals.

PREY MODEL

Raw feeding is the practice of feeding domestic dogs, cats and other animals a diet primarily of uncooked meat, edible bones, and organs.

RAW FEEDING

Are Dogs Omnivores or Carnivores?

Carnivore

An animal that feeds on other animals.

Omnivore

An animal that eats a variety of food of both plant and animal.

Dogs are OPTIMIZED for eating meat.

This means dogs are much healthier when eating food that nature designed for them to eat.

Issue Tackled: Understanding dogs' nutritional needs are obviously important to optimize pet foods.

  • Dogs’ teeth are adapted to a carnivorous diet

  • Many of their innate behaviors are carnivorous in nature. Consider digging, for example. Like wolves, dogs dig to hide parts of meals for future ingestion.

  • Dogs, like many large mammalian carnivores, are metabolically able to survive for long periods of time between meals

  • Dogs have a lot of flexibility in metabolic pathways to help make up for a feast-or-famine lifestyle and a wide range of possible prey.

Raw vs Kibble

TECHNICALLY EXPENSIVE

Buying a bowl of kibbles is like buying a huge medical bill in the future. To know more, go to the Kibble Labels section of this site.

TECHNICALLY CHEAPER

At first, it may seem raw diet is more expensive. It's not. We have many ways on finding cost-appropriate budgets as well. And, since you have healthy dogs, say goodbye to expensive medical bills.

6-15 years old

Currently, most dogs live 6-15 years. Even vets and scientific experts would tell you that.

It's not about how long they currently live. It's about: "If given the appropriate lifestyle, how long should they be lving?"

Up to 20 years old.

Contrary to popular notion, dogs CAN live up to 20 years old. Prey Model feeders can prove just that.

Why do they live longer? Healthy lifestyle and diet. They're not eating something that will kill them.

It's time to get STARTED

VETS WHO SAY YOUR DOG IS "HEALTHY"

This comes from personal experience. I have a vet (who I buy kibbles from) tell me that bad breath, huge hairfall, and allergies are "normal" for beagles. WTF?

SEEING YOUR DOG HEALTHY FIRST-HAND

  • No bad breath

  • Lesser Hairfall, shiny coats

  • No allergies! (yay)

  • Great energy levels

  • Smaller and less stinkier tools (at times, not stinky at all!

  • Live longer

EASY

Go to a store. Buy a bag of kibbles. Store kibbles. Pour a bowl of kibbles when meal time. Add treats at times.

MEDIUM to HARD AT FIRST

It's hard at first because you need to find your habit. Go to the market and supermarket to find sources of ingredients. Properly store ingredients. Properly serve ingredients. But when you see those healthy dogs, it's worth all the effort.
