Raw Dog
The Checklist
Your one stop list.
The Details
Information about the checklist.
FOOD QUANITY / PROPORTION
Don't forget to find out what the appropriate serving proportion is.
80% Muscle Meat
10% Meaty Bones
5% Liver
5% Other Organs
This will be calculated based on your dog's Ideal Adult Weight.
*Note
Once you become familiar with your dog's eating habits, you don't need to be strict with the 80-10-5-5 diet. Instead, you would be feeding based on what your dog needs at that meal.
BUYING THEIR FOOD
Find out where are the best places to buy your dog's food. Will it be the supermarket, wet market, online, donations, etc.?
Make sure it's places you can trust. The whole point of raw feeding is to buy pure meat - very little chemicals, preserervatives, etc.
*Note:
In my case, I go to the wet market to buy food. There, you can find fresh meat early in the morning. In my area, it's 2am - 5am. It's also useful to look for the hidden stalls. Most of the time, they've got the best offers.
STORAGE
Meat is stored in a freezer/cooler if you want it to last for several days.
Make sure you have enough space in your fridge before buying your weekly or monthly supply. You might end up not knowing where to place all that food.
*Note
It's a common joke among raw feeders that our refrigerators are filled with so much juicy meat -- and none of it is ours. ^_^
It's for our lovely little dogs.
CONTAINERS
Here are the options:
-
Use plates and dump it all in
-
Tupperwares
-
Zip locs
-
Any plastic bag
Tip: You can also label the containers with your dog's name.
*Note
I'll be honest.. it usually takes me 1.5 - 2 hours fixing my two dogs' meals. I weigh all their food, store it in different plastic bags, and label it per name and day.

When starting, try to create a feeding pattern for your dog. Set the time and location for your dog to call as "Feeding Time". This way, he makes raw feeding a routine in his everyday life.
BUDGET
It's important to have a budget for your dogs. After all, they are a part of your family.
If you're looking for the best ways to maximize your money, I've created a separate place HERE.
*Note
Sometimes, it may seem as if raw feeding is more expensive than a bag of kibbles. STOP. Look at what you're feeding your dog. Is it really food or a bunch of crap? Choose: Invest on the right food or invest on something that will turn into a huge medical bill in the future.
